Torque specs

Post by FullHedge »

Hey Everyone,

I need to re-torque my head bolts on my 450 RT, my manual
says that it should be 300-350 ft/lbs. I believe this is a mis-print.
I think that this was originally in newtons and the proper Torque
should be somewhere around 67 ft/lbs.
Can anyone out there confirm this and or tell my the correct
Torque that I should use to tighten these things up.

Also does anyone recommend using some kind of seal a gasket
between the head and the cylinder ? The manual doesn't show a
gasket and there wasn't one there when I open it up. Or should I just
leave it like the manual shows ?

Thanks

Never Mind about the Torque Spec
I was my Bad, it's actually Inch pounds.
Which is at 300in/lbs is 25ft/lbs.

Feeling a little silly right now.

I know what the specs are for my 250, I wasn't sure about the 450 so I didn't reply. A head gasket isn't needed, just make sure it's nice and clean when you put it together. Make sure you install a new 'O' ring on the oil feed though, this is very important.
