I am about to try the same thing shortly but I am buying a replica tail section as I reckon it will need a bit of modifiction due to the way it shrouds the top shock mount where I intend to have one mount

rack

a fellow on the gold coast was selling a rack to suit on ebay last year , looked the goods and was nicely chromed as well, should have taken more notice, but i don,t want to do anything to butcher the rear tail section thats why i put out the question, saddle bags make it hard to double up

Many years ago I made my own rack system for the Mille that took a Givi hard top box , had it anodized and painted still looks like new 15yrs on , cant find a pic at the moment and the rack is at Mums place, next time I'm up there I'll take a pic for you if you like

I made it so that I was able to use it for two up I also used a BMW tank bag to counter the weight when the givi was loaded and I was riding solo , not having seen it for some time, I think I used the top shock and rear peg mounts as my main supports and the top bar I used was also secured to the rear seat mount
It used to get a real going over by others at rallies that for sure
