1979 SS Darmah

Post by dakota »

new here today...Recently purchased a 79 SS Darmah from a collection of 17yrs or so.A nice straight adult owned motorcycle with intelligent upgrades. It runs well with no glaring problems, but will be gone through thoroughly by spring 09.More to come on that one.
Also own 2 gig valve Guzzi 1000S's,3 LeMans'1's,2 Norton's a Bennelli 900sei and a couple of clean old Sportsters (have to be able to prove Im not Italian!).
So basically keep pretty busy keeping all this stuff up,but love every minute of it!.Look forward to spending time researching this Ducati in the future. This certainly seems like a good place to start(well maybe the bank, then here....)

Yup, hate to disappoint! So ...

Hi Dakota,

Welcome to the exclusive and privileged band of SSD owners. One day the rest of Beveldom will catch up; but thankfully, not yet :-)

Can you please let me have your frame and engine numbers - and build ad/or registration date if you have them? I keep a little register, you see - I'll send you a copy if you want.

Ciao

the Gentlemen I bought the bike from has a pretty respectable stable of bikes which is why I parted with one of My Norton 850's as partial trade.

Hope these help, really appreciate the interest as well.As I said trying to get up to speed on the bike.I look forward to hearing back.Dakota

Hi Dakota,

Thanks. That's Glen Scanlon's old bike, right? It's an early one - the second oldest I know of (and the oldest in the USA).

Guard it well :)

Ciao

Guzzi 1000S

Love those Guzzi 1000S`s. Rarely see them over here in Oz. Had an old T3 once. A mechanical marvel and an electrical swine. It`s what turned my into the Bevel nut I am today. Never got to thank her either............

Slightly off-topic I suppose but I got more speeding tickets with my 850 LeMans than with any other bike. It was deceptively fast and dead reliable but the gearchange was brutal and the throttle action hand-numbing. Much to the chagrin of my wife I sold the Guzzi but kept the 900SS.
