Starter Motor for Pantah 500

Post by RobPant500 »

Hi there,

I am having a miserable old time trying to locate a starter motor for my (soon to restored?) Pantah 500. The words 'hen' and 'teeth' come to mind...

If someone could point me in the direction of one, I will give you one gazillion dollars. If you know of a work-around, I will give you half a gazillion dollars (do I seem too desperate?)

Of course, I won't be able to have my life-saving surgery...but, it will be worth it!

Regards,

Robert

Gowanlocks referbed mine,BTW they are NOT fun to get at,lots of trouble to get access to the inner,if I remember right, bolt.Whats wrong with yours,
have you tried the tap it with a spanner trick, give it a good wack,if it spinns it probably just needs new brushers.BTW I am in Sydney

Thanks for the suggestion, but the bike is with the mechanic, who is the one than said the strarter is stuffed. I have no idea about this, not being mechanically minded, so I have to take his word for it. I'll suggest the 'tap' test to him.

I tried Gowanloch who said they couldn't help me. I was sure if anyone could help, they would...

In the meantime I have found some places that claim to have reconditioned ones - but they charge between $200-600 dollars!

Looks like this restoration is going to cost about ten times more than I thought.

Regards,

Robert
