I have broken the ‘tang’ on my speedo drive. I have a new tang to replace it but how does the drive come apart?

you do not take anything apart - just remove the wire C clip from the back and slip off the old, then slip the new back on and reinstall that C clip. Now is a great time to fix the WHY it broke. Clean and lube your speedo drive and clean/lube your speedo cable............ And clean/lube your tacho cable while you are at it...
