total loss system

Post by co311a »

hi, i`ve got a ex race bike i am currently restoring into a 750 sport, its originally a 72 gt.
the bike has a total loss ignition system, which i dont know whether to keep or replace, whoever put it together knows there stuff because its all
been assembled and pieced together from other bits and bobs, even the pick ups have been home made and soldered in.
sorry i digress from the question, which is do you think it will be to much trouble to just put a battery on it and just keep charging regular or should i replace old electrics, bearing in mind i will not be doing any night riding or really lengthy riding. advice please ? :?

Total Loss Ignition

What works really well is the statorplate and transducers from an 860. It's self generating and hence the only drain on a battery would be things like horn and blinkers. The roundcase engines are already set up to accept the plate, the factory must have been toying with the idea but it never made it to production.

It means you have to change the external flywheel and primary gear however and, come to think of it, the clutch primary drive is a different size on the round and square motors.

Alright, I'll get me coat ......
