Re: Sprag Bearing Outer Race
I got if figured. In the cold light of day the sprag bearing outer race is actually the flywheel. I was confused because I bought a sprag bearing upgrade kit from Vee Two and the outer race of this unit was effectively a lightened flywheel and was a lot smaller. Therefore with the new parts I had in ...

Sprag Bearing Outer Race
Hi folks
I am replacing the sprag bearing outer race on my 78 Darmah. This is the one held in with 6 screws and located on two pins. How does this come out? Do I need a gear puller or do I press out the internal taper and then push the race out using a hydraulic press?

Darmah Sprag Clutch VS 916 or similar
I have just had a starter sprag clutch in my Darmah fail. I have pulled the engine down and there is brinelling on the races that the starter engages on.
In Australia I have seen a new starter gear that utilises a sprag bearing from a 916.
Has anybody got any experinece with this mod?? Are the ...

Darmah Starter motor sprocket
I wanted to overhaul my starter as I have just had a sprag bearing fail. I could not get the sprocket off the starter motor in order to remove it from the case for strip down. They are keyed on and even minor burrs can make the removal difficult.

Thread repair
There is enough meat to machine out. I machined one out a few years back using a fly cutter on a milling machine. The hardest part is holding the head so that the new exhaust bore is parallel with the original. Just takes a little mucking around during the set up. I made a new insert from phosphor ...

Darmah and Pantah Bosch Ignition Pick Ups
Gents,
Having just been to the classic bike racing on the weekend I have decided to pull finger and get the Darmah on the road.
There were a few guys running points set ups on there race bikes (S2's).
If you wanted to persist with the electronic ignition has anybody identified a suitable ...

Good news Al
I also own a 78 Darmah with 36mm D's on it. I replaced the 32mm as they were worn. I am having trouble with the engine running on one cylinder (front from memory) and have undertaken the vast majority of what you recommended. I will check my jetting against yours and report back. But from memory I ...

Breather Filter
There is a nice little K&N filter which fits directly to the breather stack. I think it is off a turbo blow off valve. Does away with the hose completely and stops sucking dirt off the rear wheel!

Just be aware that the epoxy JB Weld is almost like a plastic steel.
I have used it because it is temp, oil, and electrical resistant and seals the back of the pick up where the wires exit. This is a reasonably permanent repair and maybe difficult to remove later if the pick ups ever need servicing ...
