Just got a '75 860 GT and have a "newbie" question

Hi, I picked up the bike last night and am pretty excited to start a new project. I've already gone through all the related manuals on the site and couldn't find the answer to my dilemma. Basically, I'm curious which model I have. My shift lever is on the right hand side and rear brake pedal is on the left. The engine number is 852921. Don't have any pics yet.

The only 860 pic I could find of a similar bike with the same pedal setup was the prototype pic in the 860 gallery.

So, do I have a Euro version bike or is it an early model or what?

Thanks for any help.

I did see the right side shift squarecase forum but thought it was only for 900ss. Also looked at the manuals for the 750/900 and saw the right side shift, so I'm closer to answer.

Thanks,

Mike

First, 860's and 900's are both 864cc. If you still have stock paint, what color is your bike? Can you post a picture
or email a picture to me?

I'll take some pics tonight. As far as the pain, I'm not sure if it's original, but it's red.

Thanks,

Mike

Here a couple pics. Seems like the previous owner was on a mission to make an 860 Sport.

Emptyg, You appear to have a later 860 with what looks like a Triumph or other britbike brake pedal pivoting on the passenger peg mount. Pretty crafty! The shifer side is probably a 750 shift spindle in the squarecase shiftbox. A much better shifter setup than the 860 came with. But I think you will have very sore toes with that short shift lever.Steve sells some nice looking rearsets but you would have to make up some linkage bits to keep the right foot shift .Looks like the start of a fun and rewarding project!
