Hi guys, i have painted my tank and covers, for my Gt. I could not wait and i took pics of it while in the painting room! As you see i tried to reproduce the original orange, quiet good actually, out in the day light it looks pretty much the same. Today i will take it home and tomorrow i will put it on the bike!

Looks a lot like this one:

but the tank badges are different.
Yours?
Cheers

Yes, i saw this bike on Ebay just after i have painted mine. The badges are the same, its a metal later tank, not a fiber glass one. i will post pics of the bike later today, it looks really good

Looking forward to seeing the pics. What I meant when I mentioned that the badges were different was that those shown on the eBay bike have the standard silver background, but yours have a black background.
The seller says:
Very original bike with original rare black and gold paint scheme
but there was never an original paint scheme like that.

Beg to differ Steve, I believe the ebay bike being a late `74, is the original paint scheme. Most probably was one of the last/later GT 750`s, and looks like Guido has painted it in the same vein as the black and gold 860`s of `75. you seen those ones Steve?

Bara - the 750 GT black and gold scheme that I am familiar with looks like the one shown in
http://www.jfairstein.com/750GT.html for example.
Those early model black and gold 860s (e.g.
http://autolibra.com/images/ducati-860- ... 980-07.jpg) were considered pretty ugly at the time, and many thought that was because it was the product of a car designer (Giugiaro), but I think that they have aged rather well.

I took the paintsheme from the original gold /black GT, but i reversed the colors and i choosed the orange metalic. Maybe i should respect the model rules and paint it like the original one, but just because i start with an not original tank, i thought that i wouldnt be original anyway! Once i found a glass fiber tank, i will paint it like that.

The badges are the same, metal ones fro the later model, but mine has black background, you are right! I did that because it looks better i think. The bike has never been a show bike, it has few things that they are not original, so i dont follow strict rules to restore it.
