Engine number location 250 mach 1

Where can I find the engine number on a mach 1. This may sound silly but the alloy is badly corroded. Help?

Youcan find the engine number on a Ducati single in front of the
cilinder barrel . on the left side should be DM 250 M 1 and the eng. nr.
should be on the right side and the higest nr i know of is 01864 so as
far as we know about 1900 or 2000 Mach 1 are made
