What year is your bike?
My '75 900ss is a mix of metric and UNF - something to do with it being designed by Colin Seeley, perhaps?
I had to invest in a whole new set of taps when mine came out of the paint-shop. I have the details of the threads used *somewhere*...
The footpeg/silencer mounts and the swing-arm clamps are UNF, but the fairing bracket and transducer mounts are metric - wierd!
I'd welcome other views on this, but I think the 900's went metric in '77?
If this is helpful I'll be both pleased and suprised
Cheers,
Andy

Hi Andy
Yeh, many (all?) Bevel Dukes, including the wide-case singles, use 7/16 threads for the pillion pegs. (Don't know about the swing arm pinch-bolts, tho' - have always believed these to be metric fine).
Many possible explanations, each tending to be more unlikely than the last ...
Ciao

I've always assumed the reason for the UNF muffler mounts is that passenger foot pegs were sourced from a British supplier, presumably because that was the cheapest source.
My '80 900SS has the UNF bolts.

.... nope. The Berliner Brothers sent a frame back to the factory with instructions to "make them like this" because they couldn;t get anyone at the factory to understand what they wanted for passenger pegs [or where they wanted them] and they had found some passenger pegs somewhere with the UNF threads.......... voila. thats what I heard and it could be right or wrong.........
