nottonight68 wrote:interesting thread this-seems ss owners are concerned about originality more so than others
seems to me that most hard to find parts are on the front end
-headlight
-m/cyl
-shaved calipers
-brake lines
-rims
-sliders
-etc
makes me wonder if available parts were used up years ago for front end crash repairs
cheers steve
Steve - spot on on both counts!
I'm 100% sure the reason mine has non original bits is due to 'kinetic interruption' in previous years.

As for the increased interest in originality...market forces?

It'll be a cold day in hell before I throw away my DMC ignition and Ikon shocks to put the originals back on!
Sadly, they're becoming museum pieces...personally, I can't imagine a bike I'd rather look at than a nicely restored ss, but I want to ride mine too :vroom:

Cheers,

Andy

Add original contis to the list. They sound better than the stainless replicas and rusted out before they got to a crash.

unbelieveable...it must be going on a $100k greenframe, that should narrow down list of buyers. I know the seller is on this forum, I wonder if the buyer is too? Anyone out there want to own up to it...

jads started all this-it was only $600 when he first mentioned jod duplo :-D
i guess there had to be at least 2 bidders for the price to go that high-ergo there is still at least 1 person willing to pay big bucks for this part-i wouldnt be surprised to see another one surface on e bay shortly

I believe the one that sold a couple years ago on eBay went for around $600, which was and still is TOO much. Now that the buyer blew his wad the next one will go for about half, and the one after that for even less, maybe I will even be able to afford the one after that...

cafe*racer wrote:Jads, this might work for you too, not the real thing but as a replacement: http://cgi.ebay.com/Ducati-750-GT-Sport ... dZViewItem I have seen this happen with vintage/antique car items on eBay over the last 10 year or so, a few people with more money than you know what drive the prices way up. The all of a sudden they dissappear and the bottom falls out. Patience is a virtue. J.
You'll need some significant modifications to use this with the JOD Duplo chrome rim as it mounts differently (no screws)...
