Plated cylinders

Thought I would give plated cylinders a try. Wiseco says the rings that come with 87mm pistons will work fine.
Millennium Technologies in Plymouth Wisconsin does a proprietary Nickel Silicon Carbide (NSC) cylinder plating.
Should last a looong time.

I don't know if there is any advantage to plating an iron sleeve, all of the plated cylinders I've ever seen have been aluminum. I don't think heat transfer would be improved as the sleeve is still shrunk into the cylinder barrel. The bore would certainly last longer but I don't think anyone uses their bevel hard enough for bore wear to be an issue.

True, no improvement in heat transfer or weight savings.
But I did put over 6000 miles on my 900SS last summer and plan on more this year
I run filters on my carbs now but maybe plated cylinders would last a bit longer than cast iron if I didn't?

Most aircraft cylinders are Nickel Silicon Carbide plated on steel bores (not sleeves, but cylinders made from one piece). I had it done at Millenium too and gotten great results, mostly in longevity and reduced fuel consumption. I see that they will do aluminum sleeves for bikes too.
