Have the old girl on the road and running well now and looking good after repaint but fork seals need doing again so I figure its time for a fork upgrade as am still running original springs...I see on the forum talk of Steve's fork kit and am thinking this may be the way to go. So any feedback from those who have gone this way? Any tips or tricks?

pull both springs out and check both are exactly same length. If they are keep using them but with 15 weight oil instead of 10. If springs aren't same length new springs required. All springs sag a bit over time from hammering but as long as they are still same length they are fine. I am always looking for the lowest cost solution though. I have put a couple of washers on top of springs too over the years, I know I risk spring binding but it doesn't seem to happen. Forks used to bottom out, now they don't. If your forks work fine but just leak a bit I would just change the seals and leave the rest alone.

Yes i agree a huge improvement is worth the investment.my springs etc are 35 years old..but bike still handles well...when i jump on my old Bonnie i appreciate duke design more.does your kit replace all internal fork components Steve?

no - just the spring



pull out the original sacked out spring and any pre load spacer there might be as well as some bevels had a funky shroud thing over the top part of the spring......... Install 2 springs, washers, crossover tube and preload spacer and thats it.

You will be amazed at the difference. I spent a *lot* of time developing this kit, and, just got them for 35mm forks as well as the 38mm kits we are talking about.

True. Old Italian bike and works just fine always sound good in the same sentence but you can always make it better.
