Cylinder barrel - identification markings

Hi. This is a long shot and I realise I am unlikely to get an explanation, but here goes....

I have removed the barrels of my 1982 MHR and they have both been bored to 88mm. (cast iron liner). On the top face of the aluminium near the liner are some initials or markings of someone I assume has previously worked on the engine. Both barrels have 'Bs' stamped on the aluminium. ( capital 'B' lower case 's'.) I wondered if this was for a specific rider or whether the engine builder has 'signed' his work. ( This is not uncommon on clock makers/repairers).

Any suggestions anyone?
Thanks,
Phil.
