Fitting Dyna Coils and HT Leads to SSD

Hi

Have purchased some new Dyna 5 Ohm ignition coils to my 1980 SSD and intend to replace the HT leads.

My question is, are the 5 Ohm coils OK as a straight swap for the original units?

Can I use non-resistor/supressor HT leads?

Do I keep the ignition resistor/ballast units - or are they part of the old HT coil assembly and need to be removed?

Thanks for your help

yes they are fine, do not use the ballast any longer, it would be better to get new leads

OK Steve thanks for that.

So, just to make sure I fully understand, the Dyna DC-10 5 Ohm coil is equivalent to the original coil and ballast resistor combination?

And I don't need any suppressors or resistors in the HT lead plug caps?

Sorry to sound dumb but don't want to break anything!!!

I would not say "=" but I would say "better than"..... Yes - do NOT use the orginal ballast resistors. I would also replace your old wires with the DYNA wire kit [we offer] when you replace the coils, and, use the resistor type plugs. It couldn;t hurt.
