860gt clutch problem

After storing my bike (75 860GT) for the last year and a half, I finally decided to get it out of the garage. Started up fine, warmed up fine, but when I went to shift into first it stalled because the clutch wouldn't dis-engage. The cable isn't broken and the actuating arm moves when I pull in the clutch, but something is obviously very wrong inside. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be or what to look for before I tear into it?

Thanks

Most likely culprit is the clutch basket nut has backed out.

Take side cover of, pull clutch - is the basket moving? Most likely. If yes then take the clutch disks out and tighten up the nut this time using loctite.

If that isn;t the case, perhaps just the clutch disks have stuck so take apart, check the nut, and reassemble this time oiling up all disks as you go.
