It's an oil question, Jim, but not as we know it

Found a stash at my parent's place of some unopened 5 litre containers of BP Corse 50 (mineral oil meant "for racing use" only) that I always used to use. It's been stored undisturbed in the garage at temps between 10-30 deg C.
Not that I'm considering using it, but out of curiosity is there a consensus about the shelf-life of this type of oil?
It's also something that I'd like to know because I'm considering buying a larger quantity of oil which will take several years to use at my current rate of consumption. But this is a different circumstance, of course, because the container will not be sealed once opened.
Some interesting info at http://www.carbibles.com/engineoil_bible.html and http://www.machinerylubrication.com/Rea ... orage-life
