My new aquisition 80 Darmah SS seems to have developed an oil leak in the countershaft area. no doubt from sitting in a barn for the last 10 years. any hints would be greatfully appraciated. I sure hope in not going to have to go inside to put in a new seal.

easy fix, done outside the motor. 2 different seals, 1 small one just inside the countershaft sprocket in the tube, you can stuff in 2 or 3, the larger one on the outside of the shaft is harder to replace but not too difficult, usually it is the samll one[s]...... I stock both. Clean everything up real well, go for a ride, then look to see where exactly it is leaking from then get back to me to buy the seals.

And don't forget the Steve Wynne tip - use two nuts and put some silicone on the threads. Working for me ...

Hi Craig, are you talking about fitting two sprocket nuts? and silicone instead of loctite on the threads?
Cheers

Hi duck-a-tye
Yup, that's it. 2 of the round sprocket nuts, silicone on the threads ...
