Wanted Bevel Idiot lights

Post by Gum »

Does anyone know where I can buy the three Idiot lights on the headlight on my 750s, 1973. I did see some on Ebay a while back, but I cant find any now.

Thanks in advance Gum

I know that Damien at Bevelrubber also had some for a while but it looks like he's out of stock.

Good luck.

Are they the same as those fitted to the 860GT?

Gum,

To follow up on Steve's suggestion, I spoke with Damien Birch a couple of weeks ago about idiot lights, and he was in the process of completing a batch that can utilise either LED;s or globes so that you can replace just the LED/globe rather than buy a whole new unit. Makes sense to me, so I will be getting some of those once completed, They may already be done, not sure.

Cheers

Bruce,
Are they the same as those fitted to the 860GT?
I always assumed that they were. But I've just checked my 750 GT/Sport and 860 GT parts manuals and, at the risk of being accused of pedantry and having way too much time on my hands, this is what I found:

Green indicator (lights on): same part number for all 3 models, 0795.38.396.

White indicator (key on): 0795.38.355 (750 GT), 0796.38.355 (750 Sport), 960.38.356 (860 GT) - all different. Different holders for the festoon globes on the 750 GT/Sport, the GT having additional wires on the mount which run to the other two lights. The 860 doesn't use a festoon globe.

Red indicator (high beam): 0795.38.356 (750 GT & Sport), 0960.38.355 (860 GT - the holder uses a festoon globe).

The '75-'76 750 SS - 900 SS have exactly the same part numbers as the 750 GT.

__?__

I reckon that you couldn't tell the difference if the lens colours were correct and you managed to connect the different holders. (However, Kev - machten - has drawn attention to the existence of slightly different bezel profiles in his post at http://www.bevelheaven.com/~BB/phpBB2/v ... c&start=15 ).

Idiot lights

I bought some of those lights from Classic Italian Bikes and found that the chrome chips off very easily. The other thing is that they are a sealed unit, the led inside is not easily serviceable.

Steve,
at the risk of being accused of pedantry and having way too much time on my hands...
Nah. That's just dealing with the important things in life.
Thanks. That explains a few things to me about the different bits. As does this:
The '75-'76 750 SS - 900 SS have exactly the same part numbers as the 750 GT.
I'd wondered if the different bezel profiles were a squarecase/roundcase thing. Obviously not - just different bits/suppliers at different times by the sound of things.

The reason I ask is that I have three complete units (red, green and yellow bezels, single spade terminal on the bottom) and two top portions left over from my 860GT.
