Take what you need and part out the rest.

Remember, non-desmo bevel drive motors have short lived valve guides because the guides are short. ;-)
When the only tool one has is a hammer everthing looks like a nail.

There was a problem with some 860GT valve guides. I know they wore badly on my old bike. After replacing them, however, I had no further problems.

Valve guides aren't really a problem if they are made of a good material. It is true they are a bit short but if they are made of a good material like Ampco45 they have a good lifespan. Most of the aftermarket guides available use an alloy something more wear resistant than the cheese the OE guides were.
