Electric- Mobile starter unit for my race bike needed

Post by Aussiess »

Hi all,
This is more for the Australians as freight would be a killer, but can anyone recommend a suitable electric (or any type) of mobile starter unit for a cranky bevel race engine??
I need one as the kick starter is not functional anymore as the bike has been stripped to basics. I dont want to have to push start this thing!!!
Does anyone have one for sale /swap/ beg etc. Im in need. even a link to a mate who makes them cheap etc. Ive seen the Foxley units and Im not gunna spend that kind of $$.!!!
Maybe someone has the plans to make one?
Any help greatfully accepted.
Regards,
Grant

Grant when I did my time as a mech, we were able to balance a rim and tire on a vehicle, in short we did not have to unbolt it from the car, this would then balance everything from worn ball joint etc

I have not seen these units for some time now they are 240v and spin up to 80kmh it would take much at all to change the driving wheel to then be able to use it for a bump stater for your rear wheel

What most of the racers are using here in the states is a horizontal shaft lawnmower engine with a go cart wheel and tire mounted to the shaft. You have to build a frame with wheels on it to move it around and you just run the spinning wheel against the rear wheel while it is on the rear stand.
Iknow Fast by Ferracci sells one but they aren't hard to make. You can look in their online catalog to get an idea of what it looks like.
