Greetings from Kansas City

Two years ago I was told by my neighbor that he had a Ducati, 1974 750 GT in his basement. He had the bike since 1977 but had not ridden it since 1988, when he pulled the carbs for a rebuild and became overwhelmed (This was early 2009).

I had to look up the bike to see what it was. The neighbor was ...

the secret to remove speedo cable

Yes, the speedo cable has me stumped. It didnt work, so I got a new cable. It comes out of the speedometer easily but appears to be stuck inside the speedo unit on the wheel. What am I missing? I expected to remove the cap and lift out the cable, but not so. Guidance please.

But recognize, I am still happy! It will start easily and run on 2, count them 2 cylinders. It has brakes that stop and lights that work. The gas tank is clean. Heck it even has new tires.

I have no trouble at all visiting the carbs again.

The same question I was asking myself. I will take that as gentle guidance that i should go through the carbs again paying special attention to the idle circuit.

Thanks

If by throttle stop scews, you mean the screw on the side of the carb that gently lifts the slide, then yes.

running but not idling

The bike 1974 750GT. I have had the bike 8 weeks.

Among many other things I have rebuilt carbs, gone to Dyna coils and a Dyna S. The bike starts on the first kick but wont idle. I tried the adjustment on the side of the carb and it just doesn't get the bike to idle.

On most bikes there is a way to ...

it came out. I dont know if it was due to the chickens I sacraficed or the old woman I stopped for on the way home, but the skys parted and it came out with a 1/2 adapter.

Now where is a replacement available? I would prefer not to put this one back in.

feeling really dense

I feel like I am in need of a remedial version of this forum. I have the Dyna S and a degree wheel, and all the instructions a boy could want.

I can't get the plug out of the case to acess the crankshaft!

The plug has been severely worn prior to my reciept of the bike. I feel like I had my first ...

In the manual it shows a long bolt you can use to build a makeshift timing indicator. Any help on the size and threads of such a bolt?

When I pull the fuse box for inspection it appears the rivet the fuse arm fits in is loose. I suspect cleaning and solder will be the ticket

help with the fuse box on the 750GT

the bike a 1974 750GT. It has been in a carpenters shop since 1988. It came to me three weeks ago.
I went through carbs and the bike started but has never run consistently on both cylinders.

I have ordered the electronic igniton as the cost of points and condensers for a basic tune up make the ...
