Ok, I'm just gonna say it........
I think it would be a shame to take an Elite and turn it into a racer.
It is indeed your bike so do whatever you wish but Elites were quite rare and they are simply stunning.
Judging from an investment standpoint....if you restore the bike as an Elite, it will be ...

I have my original foil...I could photograph it and email it to you so you can see how it should be stamped.

Here is an Ebay listing for the stamps so you can punch your foil.

I recently purchased yet another basket case. (what's wrong me?)

The "bike" has matching numbers engine & frame
On the case is 154353, DM 200, M955 (on both halves)
There is an "A" stamped on the cylinder.
There is an "R" stamped on the head.

Any clues would be appreciated!

Yes the engine is indeed a 200. The frame is original and has the original badge on the headtube. It is marked 1959 175 TS, which I believe is correct. I have not decided whether to pursue putting it back to original or simply building a cafe racer.
