Try rocking it from side to side as you push it on. There is nothing that can break so it's OK to use some force.

Leak
Personally I'd look at a permanent fix by a professional. Cut out rust, re weld, repaint. Obviously a more expensive solution.

possible that previous owner re-assembled clutch push rods/balls in wrong order.

Remove all rods and see what you have got in comparison to diagram.

I'd check both the positive and negative battery leads before wasting your time on anything else. I'd be particularly worried about the negative lead. Unfortunately if it is a faulty earth lead from the battery to the frame then you might have fried your regulator.

There should be an aluminium crush washer about 1mm thick (when new). They should be replaced if they have become 'flattened' out but then the breather tower is not something that normally gets removed/re-installed too often.

Hi Johan,

you need a battery with more punch ... Yuasa 53030 (30 amp hour) will easily kick it over but not sure if it will fit in an S2. Alternatively try an AGM battery around 24 amp hour

I think that the VIN is from the vehicle compliance plate the Australian authorities attached to bike frames. Usually attached to right side down tube. Can't recall whether the end part of number is frame or engine number.

personally I wouldn't try and put more current through existing setup at this point if it is overloading (overheating) existing cables. I use a 30 amp hour battery these days & it works fine. Engine fires on first stab of button.

What is amphour rating of battery?
SD’s originally came with a Yuasa 36 amp hour battery. Improvements in battery technology mean that you shouldn’t need a 36amp battery these days though. Wouldn’t try it with anything less than 30amp ...
