WANTED: Ducati Belt Drive Restoration book

Hello Guys

I am looking for a book by Ian Falloon titled "Ducati Belt-Drive Two-Valve Twins Restoration and Modification"

I think it has been out of print for a few years.

Can trade 2 books by same author "The Ducati 860, 900 & Mille Bible" and "Original Ducati Sport & Super Sport". Both in ...

Hi Steve

If you haven't already checked out Rudi's-TT-Site go take a look, there is heaps of info there but I am not sure if he has the exact specs you are looking for.

I understand the length of the shock was 300mm when fitted to a bike with the steel Verlicchi swingarm and 18 inch wheels, as for ...

Hi Johan

I recently bought a 1984 900S2 and had the exact same problem, the first thing I went for were the pickups.

However, in this case they had been previously repaired and weren't the source of the intermittent firing of the vertical cyclinder.

I just replaced the spark plugs and everything ...

I see the person who restored the Green Frame in the OP has got the old conrods for sale on eBay (140312780576).

In the description he says that he sold the bike to an Australian collector for US$130K........now that is some serious dosh lol.

It looks like he will be listing other items from the ...

I also think there is an error in the 900SS wiring diagram, it is the same as the one posted by abmartin for the Darmah but there is an arrow on the ignition rotor showing anti-clockwise rotation.

It does explain in the diagram that the view of the pickups is "seen from the cover inside" so in that ...

Hi Steve

I initially wired my pickups incorrectly & couldn't get the bike started. It would splutter, backfire and kickback on the kickstarter......I ended up with a very sore foot lol.

Anyway, I swapped the wires around at the 4 pin connector, so that the lower pickup was the horizontal and the ...

Thanks Steve, I suspect the lower pickup to be the vertical one as you and Gondarmah have drawn it......and how mine is wired up.

If you take a look at the Ducati electrical diagram it does show the vertical cylinder to fire first, followed 90 degrees later by the horizontal. So with the crank ...

So going back to the drawing in your post......the white/black wires are number 2 and 4?

I just need to get this right as I have rewired the pickups and am having problems starting the bike. I have also done some other work on the engine and the Dellorto's so need to elliminate the pickups as the ...

Pickup polarity

Thanks for the info wdietz186, I guess from what you have said is that the bike should still start even if one or both of the pickups are cross wired.

I have read the thread about pickup polarity but would specifically like to know the colour of the pickup wires when the clutch cover is removed and ...

Pickup polarity

Hi Gondarmah

Did you ever sort out the colours of the pickup wires?

If so, would you mind posting them here.

Thanks

Hello Ruud

You are correct of course, the finish looks like it was just badly done but the intention from the Marzocchi factory would have been to give their parts that finish all along.

Although what you suggest obviously works, in the spray booth at the factory they wouldnt have had the time to ...

Hi Tony

Can you please let me know the name of the paint that you use to get that authentic crinkle look.

I am in the process of restoring my 1981 900SS and this would be perfect for forks and yokes.

Cheers

Joe.
P.S. I too live in Melbourne

Chromed metal strip on SS single seat

I am in the process of making a single seat for my 1981 900SS which only had the dual seat when i bought it last year.

I am in need of the chromed metal strip that holds the zip to the seat assembly. I have found a couple of sites that have them for sale but they are asking way too much folding ...

Seat

Hi Steve

On the post 1981 900ss they redesigned the dual seat assembly, it was now much longer than the old dual seat and extended to over the tail light. Similar but not exactly the same as the S2 model.

Take a look at the sales brochure and you will see what I mean, note also that you cannot see ...
